Kalanjali

Our shop is spread across a few units in Mantri Mall, specifically numbers 60, 64, 72, and 73. Being on the upper ground floor means we see everyone who comes in from the 1st Sampige Road entrance. Malleshwaram is a great neighborhood, but working inside a mall is its own thing. You don't see the sun much during the day. We spend a lot of time folding clothes and making sure the hangers are straight. On weekends, it gets really loud with the music from the atrium and all the kids running around. It is a big space to look after. We have a small staff and we mostly just talk about what we are having for lunch or who is coming in for the late shift. The air conditioning is always a bit too cold in here. People come in to browse after they finish their shopping at the grocery store downstairs. We have been here since the mall was much newer. It is a lot of walking back and forth between the different sections of the store. Sometimes the elevators near us break down and people get a bit grumpy having to take the stairs. We just keep doing our thing. It is a steady job and we like the people we work with every day.
