Cotton House

Our place, Cotton House, is at 26/2 near the Sharma Complex in the Chickpet area. It is specifically on Dr R G Thandani Road. Chickpet is a maze of small lanes and we are right in the thick of it. We deal mostly in fabrics and cloths, which is what this whole neighborhood is known for anyway. The shop is not very big, and the rolls of cotton take up most of the floor space. You have to squeeze past them to get to the back. We have been here for a long time, watching the buildings around us change while we stay mostly the same. The Sharma Complex is a good landmark if you are trying to find us for the first time. We get a lot of tailors and small designers coming in to look at what we have in stock. It is a bit dusty with all the fabric fibers in the air, but that is normal for a cloth shop. I usually have a tea in the morning while I wait for the first customers to show up. We do not have a big marketing plan or anything. We just open the shutters and start the day. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front door when it is heavy, so we keep some buckets handy. It is just a regular shop run by real people. We know the other shopkeepers on the lane and we look out for each other.
