Coin & Art Gallery

If you go to 655 on the 1st Floor in Binnamangala you will find us. Coin & Art Gallery is tucked away up the stairs and it is much quieter there than down on the main street. We spend most of our time looking at small things through magnifying glasses or trying to get the frames to sit straight on the old walls. It is a bit cramped because we have boxes of old catalogs and stacks of paper that we haven't gone through in years. The air always smells a little bit like old metal and dusty wood. We don't have a big staff, just a couple of us who know where the specific coins are hidden in the wooden drawers. Sometimes the stairs creak when people come up and that is how we know we have company. It is not like those modern shops with bright white lights and glass cases everywhere. Our displays are a bit mismatched and some of the labels are handwritten because we haven't gotten around to printing new ones. The window looks out over a small alleyway and it doesn't let in much sun, so we keep the desk lamps on even during the middle of the day. It’s a slow kind of place where you have to take your time to see everything. We usually have a radio playing low in the background, mostly just the news or some old songs.
