Ayoka Flowers

Ayoka Flowers is found at number 31 on Mangamannapalya Main Road, right beside the Nilgiris store at 6th Cross in Vyalikaval. Having a grocery store like Nilgiris next door means there is a steady stream of people walking past our window all day long. Vyalikaval is generally a calm neighborhood, which we appreciate. Our shop interior is pretty basic. We have some metal shelving and a few sturdy tables where we do all the bunching and trimming. The smell of the lilies usually hits you as soon as you step inside. We spend a lot of our time just cleaning up. Flower shops produce a lot of mess, from dropped petals to the slimy water that builds up in the bottom of the containers. We make sure to scrub the buckets every day so everything stays healthy. Some of our customers have been living in these streets for decades and they like to stop for a chat while we tie up their flowers. We do not use any fancy floral foam or plastic decorations unless someone specifically asks for it. We prefer the natural look of the flowers just as they are. Sometimes the delivery truck is late and we have to scramble to get everything ready before the morning rush. It is just the way things go in this business. We keep our tools sharp and our shop floor swept as best as we can.
