Avinash Silks

To find Avinash Silks, you have to head up to the third floor of the A. R. Complex. We occupy units 27, 28, and 29. It’s located right on Kempanna Lane near the C. T. Street Cross. The stairs can be a bit of a climb, especially when we’re carrying heavy rolls of silk. Up here, it’s a bit quieter than the street level, which is nice for focusing on the work. We have large tables where we spread out the fabric to check for any flaws. The light from the windows is usually good in the mornings. We’ve been working with silks for years and it’s become second nature to us. The room is usually filled with the smell of new fabric and the sound of scissors. We aren't a corporate office with a lobby; it's more like a workshop where everything happens at once. Boxes are stacked against the walls and there’s always a list of things to do pinned to the door. We don't really bother with being fancy. We just care about the material and getting the orders out to the people who need them. Most of our days are spent folding, measuring, and packing. It’s a lot of physical work, and our backs often ache by the end of the shift. But we like the routine of it. If you manage the walk up the stairs, you'll find us busy among the colorful rolls of silk and thread.
