Raja Mahal Silks

Our shop is located at 48/1, Sanjeevappa Lane, which is right off the Avenue Road Cross. It can be a bit hard to find if you aren't looking for it because the lane is quite narrow and always crowded with people. Inside Raja Mahal Silks, we have shelves and shelves filled with different fabrics. We spend a lot of our time folding and putting things back because people like to pull them down to see how they look in the light. It is not a fancy place with bright spotlights or expensive carpets. We have some old wooden counters and a few stools for customers to sit on while they browse. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a quick break to chat. The noise from the street outside is constant, with horns honking and people shouting, but that is just part of being here. We don't really do any big advertising or anything. Most of the people who come in heard about us from their family or friends. We try to keep a good variety of patterns in stock so there is something for everyone. It is dusty work, and your hands get pretty dry from handling all the silk all day long. But it is what we have been doing for years. The lane is too small for cars, so most people just walk over from the main road. We open up early and stay until late.
