We are located over in Kamakshipalya on the 5th Cross. Being near the Amba Maheshwari Temple means there is always some activity going on outside the door. Our place at No. 71 is where we handle all the silk and fabric work that comes through. Most of the time the floor is covered with scraps of thread or rolls of cloth waiting to be moved. It is a bit of a squeeze sometimes because silk takes up a lot of room when you have different colors and patterns everywhere. We started out small and just stayed in the same neighborhood because it feels right. The local people walk by and sometimes pop their heads in to see what we are working on today. It is a lot of manual work and checking the weave of the fabric to make sure it looks okay before it goes anywhere else. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that just a practical space where we can focus on the textiles. Sometimes the power goes out or the street gets blocked by a delivery truck but we just work around it. It’s a simple setup with a few desks and a lot of storage racks. We spend our hours talking to weavers and making sure the orders are packed up properly for transport. It can be a long day of sorting through piles of silk but we enjoy the work.
