Appu Candles

Our place, Appu Candles, is located over in Banashankari. We are at number 24 on 3rd Main, specifically in the Nagendra Block area. It's quite close to K R Hospital, which is a big landmark for anyone trying to find us. Making candles is what we do every day. The smell of wax is pretty much stuck in our clothes by now. The shop is small and sometimes gets a bit hot when the heaters are running. We have been in this neighborhood for a while, and people around here usually know us as the candle folks. It’s a simple setup. We’ve got our molds and the raw materials stacked up in the back. There isn't a lot of space for moving around, but we make it work. Most of the time it’s just the sound of the radio and the sound of wax being poured. We get a lot of people walking by on their way to the hospital or the local market. The shop gets especially busy right before the festival seasons. That’s when we really have to buckle down. We usually have wax spills on the floor that we have to scrape off at the end of the week. It’s a messy business, but there’s something nice about seeing the finished candles stacked up on the shelves. My hands are usually a bit stained from the dyes we use. The 3rd Main has some big trees that give good shade in the afternoons, which we appreciate.
