Shanthinikeetan Distance College

Shanthinikeetan Distance College has been here at the Taruna Sanga Building for quite some time now. If you know the New Bus Stand Road near Ambedkar Circle in Huvinahadagali, you’ve probably walked past us. It’s a busy spot in Bellary. Most days, we are just here sitting at the desks, helping people figure out their forms or explaining how the distance learning stuff works. It isn't a fancy place with big glass windows or anything. It's just a regular office where we keep track of books and exam schedules. A lot of people from around here stop by because they want to finish their degrees but they have jobs or families to look after. We try to make it simple for them. Sometimes the fans are a bit noisy and the paperwork piles up, but that’s how it goes. People come in from the bus stand, ask a few questions, and then head back home. We spend a lot of time on the phone too, talking to students who can't make it into town. It gets dusty being so close to the road, but it’s convenient for everyone. We don't have a big team, just a few of us making sure the registrations get sent off to the right place. It’s practical work. We’ve seen many students come through these doors over the years, some just starting out and others coming back to school later in life. It keeps us busy during the day here in Huvinahadagali.
