Govt Girls College

Govt Girls College is right on the Hospet Main Road in Kampli. If you are driving through Bellary, you’ll see the building along the main stretch. It’s an old government building, so it has that solid look to it with wide corridors and high ceilings. Being a girls' college, we have a lot of students coming in from all the nearby villages around Kampli. The commute can be long for some of them, so the college is quite active from the moment the first bus arrives. We have classrooms for different subjects and a library that is usually full during exam times. It’s not the most modern place in the world, but it serves the purpose for everyone here. The benches are wooden and have been there for years. There is a lot of space in the courtyard where the students sit and talk between their lectures. Sometimes the water taps need a bit of a turn to work right, but we manage. The office staff stays busy with all the government paperwork and admissions. It’s a very practical environment. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just the usual notices and timetables pinned up on the boards. The location on the main road makes it easy for the girls to catch their buses home after the final bell rings. It’s just a steady, busy place where people come to get their degrees and move on with their lives. There is always a bit of tea being made in the staff room.
