Sarv Shakti Public School

If you walk down toward Sultanwind in Amritsar, you’ll come across Sarv Shakti Public School at number 27. It’s a familiar spot for people living in this part of the city. The school isn't very large, but it fits into the busy life of the street quite well. Every morning, the local rickshaws line up outside to drop off the kids. We have teachers who have been with us for a long time, and they know how to handle the rowdy energy of the students. It’s an old-fashioned kind of place. We use paper registers and write on the board every single day. There’s a small staff room where we sit and have tea during the short breaks. We don't spend money on glossy brochures or big signs. The school relies on the fact that we’ve been here for years. You can hear the kids reciting their lessons if you pass by the windows during the morning hours. Amritsar can get quite cold in the winter, so we all bundle up and keep things moving. The focus is always on the syllabus and making sure the kids pass their tests. We don’t have any fancy mission statements hanging on the walls. It’s just a place where children come to learn their ABCs and math. It’s practical, a bit loud sometimes, but it’s our local school and we take it one day at a time.
