Ashok Tent House

This version of Ashok Tent House is located right by the Bhinai Bus Stand on Vijay Nagar Road. Being near a bus stand means there is always a lot of dust and a lot of noise. You hear the horns and the engines all day long. I usually sit on a wooden stool near the entrance and watch the buses pull in and out. Our storage area is filled with stacks of colorful fabrics and heavy iron rods. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but I know where everything is. The road out front is usually busy with people traveling to and from Vijay Nagar. We get a lot of people just stopping by to wait for their bus or to ask for a glass of water. It’s a simple life here. We don't have any fancy displays. The walls are a bit stained from the rain, and the floor is just concrete. We spend most of our time repairing the tents or cleaning the carpets. It’s a lot of heavy lifting, especially when the weather is humid. My hands are calloused from years of doing this. The Bhinai Bus Stand is a landmark, so people never have trouble finding us. We just go about our business, loading up the vehicles and unloading them when the work is finished. It’s repetitive, but it’s what we know. The sun sets behind the bus stand every evening, and that’s when we finally start thinking about locking up.
