Agarsen Diamond

This part of Madanganj has been here a long time and you can tell by the way the buildings look. Agarsen Diamond is tucked away in the Ajmer Old Industrial Area. It’s a bit quieter than being right on the main highway, but it is still busy with daily work. We deal with diamond tools mostly for the local marble trade. The shop smells like oil and cold metal most of the time. We have a few machines running in the back of the building. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon and we just sit outside on the steps for a bit until it comes back on. It gives us a chance to talk to the neighbors about their business. There's a lot of history in these walls. My uncle used to work in this same area long before me. The desks are old and the drawers squeak every time you open them. We have rows of segments and blades stacked up in no particular order. It’s not organized like a supermarket where everything has a neat label. You have to know where things are by memory. Customers come in with their old, worn-out tools and show us exactly what they need replaced. We help them find the right match from our stock. It's practical work. We don't spend much time on computers. Most of our records are kept in big ledgers with blue covers.
