Shalby Hospital

Shalby Hospital is located on S G Road, which is pretty much the backbone of this side of town. It’s a massive stretch of road, and being located here means we are always in the thick of things. The building is a sturdy structure that has seen a lot of use over the years. Inside, the hallways are wide, designed to handle a lot of foot traffic. We have a rhythm to our days that starts before the sun is even fully up. The cleaning crews are the first ones moving, followed by the early shift nurses. By the time the doctors arrive, the lobby is usually already starting to fill up. It’s a practical place, focused on getting things done. We don’t have much in the way of art or fancy lobby furniture, just rows of chairs and sturdy tables. The stairs are often faster than the lifts when we are in a hurry. You hear the hum of the air conditioners and the occasional beep from a monitor somewhere down the hall. We work long hours, and the night shift feels very different from the day, much quieter but still alert. We keep a stash of notebooks and pens at the main stations because someone is always losing one. It’s a straightforward workplace where the main goal is just to keep the facility running and the patients cared for without any unnecessary drama or fuss. It gets the job done for the neighborhood.
