Shailya Animal Welfare And Training Council is based out in Bamni, near Malpur in the Sabarkantha district. Being in a more rural area like this means we deal with a lot of different animals and situations than you would find in the city. Our place is at number 11 in the village. It is a simple setup where we handle the day-to-day care and training of animals that need a bit of help. Life moves a bit slower here, but there is always plenty to do. Whether it is feeding time or dealing with a sick cow or dog, the work never really stops. We do not have fancy equipment or a big staff. It is mostly just us and a few volunteers who care about the local livestock and strays. The dust gets everywhere and the summers are really hot, but we make it work because the animals need us. We are not experts at marketing ourselves; we would rather spend that time in the pens or out in the fields. People in the village know us as the folks who take in the creatures no one else wants. It can be tiring, and sometimes we run low on supplies, but we get by. If you are ever driving through the Ambaliya area, you might see us out there. It is just practical, hands-on work every day. No bells and whistles, just looking after the animals that live alongside us.
