About Bengal Cultural Association – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Ahmedabad
You can find us at Chinubhai House, which is right by Lal Darwaja. It’s a busy part of the city, and the building itself is one of those places that has a lot of character, maybe even a bit too much sometimes. We have been using this space for a while now to keep our cultural activities going. It’s mostly just a few rooms where we store instruments, books, and old records. People from the association come by mostly in the afternoons or during the weekends. We don't have a big budget, so the furniture is a bit mismatched and the fans hum a little too loudly when they’re on high. Lal Darwaja is always buzzing with activity, so there is never a dull moment outside our windows. We spend a lot of time just talking about old traditions and how to keep the younger generation interested in them. Sometimes we have small gatherings where we share a bit of food and some music. It’s not a formal thing. If you stop by, you might find us arguing over a piece of poetry or just drinking tea. The walls are covered with old photos of past members and events we’ve held over the years. It’s a bit cramped, but it feels like ours. We don't try to be anything we aren't; we are just a group of people who care about our roots. The wooden floors creak when you walk on them, and the paint is peeling in the corners, but it has a warmth.
