Shah Traders (Gheekanta Road)

Our shop is situated at 73/1 Vishnu Mandir on Gheekanta Road. We are directly across from the Madhuram Cinema and also opposite the Pittalia Bamba Masjid. This area is one of the oldest parts of the city, so the streets are very narrow and they are always crowded with people, carts, and scooters. If you are trying to find a place to park around here, it can be very difficult because there is just no empty space. We have been operating from this building for a long time and you can tell the building has some history to it. Because the Vishnu Mandir is right there, we hear the temple bells every morning when we are opening up. Having the masjid nearby as well makes for a very interesting mix of sounds throughout the day. When there is a popular movie playing at the Madhuram Cinema, the crowds can get quite big and loud in the evenings. Inside the shop, we have shelves that are packed all the way to the ceiling with various items. It is not a very organized place like the new stores you see, but we know exactly where everything is kept. We still do a lot of things the old-fashioned way, using paper ledgers instead of putting everything on a computer. It gets quite dusty because of the constant traffic on Gheekanta Road, but we are used to it by now. We spend a lot of time talking with our neighbors and drinking tea while we work. It is an honest life in a very busy part of the city.
