Prathana Mamra Paua

If you head down Adroda Road in Bavla, you will come across Prathana Mamra Paua. We specialize in those snacks that everyone likes to have with their tea. The smell of roasting is always in the air around our unit. It’s a local operation, and we don't have a lot of fancy automation. Most of the work involves watching the heat and making sure the mamra and paua come out just right. The road outside can get very dusty, especially when the tractors go by, so we have to be careful about keeping our doors closed as much as possible. Bavla is a place where people know each other, so we often have locals stopping by just to say hello or pick up a bag for their home. We have a small group of workers who know exactly how the ovens should feel. We don't use any complicated manuals; we just go by experience. The floor is often covered in a bit of the product, which we sweep up at the end of every shift. It gets quite warm inside because of the roasting process, so we drink plenty of water and take breaks in the shade. It’s a humble setup, but it keeps us busy and provides for our families. We just take it one batch at a time and hope the weather stays clear for the deliveries that have to go out tomorrow.
