N.G.U Foods and Beverages is out in Bareja, which is a bit of a trek if you are coming from the main city. We are operating out of Patel Kanubhai Bhikhabhai’s place. It’s a village setting, so things move at a different pace than they do in the industrial parks. You see a lot more tractors than cars around here. We deal with food products and drinks, mostly focusing on what the local market needs. The building is simple, just concrete walls and a sturdy roof to keep the rain off the stock. There are a lot of flies in the summer, which is annoying, but we keep the storage areas sealed up tight. Working in a village means you know everyone who walks by the gate. Sometimes neighbors stop in just to chat for a bit while we are trying to load a truck. It’s a family-style environment even if we are registered as an LLP. We don’t have fancy software; a lot of the notes are still written in ledgers by hand. Sometimes the internet is spotty so we have to go outside to get a signal for the phone. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the harvest is coming in and everyone is rushing. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It’s honest and it's what we know.
