Manish Textile (Ashram Rd) Sanjay Handloom

You’ll find us at 88 Chinubhai Tower, which is right across from the Handloom House on Ashram Road. Being in a tower means we have to deal with the elevator every day, and sometimes it's faster just to take the stairs if we’re not carrying too much. The shop is a mix of Manish Textile and Sanjay Handloom, so there’s quite a lot of fabric squeezed into the space. We’ve got shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, and I usually have to use a shaky ladder to get the top rolls down. It’s a bit of a workout. The view of Ashram Road is mostly just cars and buses, but it’s a good location for people to drop by. We spend most of the day talking to folks about different weaves and prints. It’s not a quiet place; there’s always the sound of scissors cutting through cloth or someone dragging a heavy bale across the floor. The carpet in the office area is a bit worn out from all the foot traffic. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s just us showing up, opening the shutters, and selling what we have. Sometimes we get the names of the fabrics mixed up if we’re tired, but we fix it pretty quick. It’s just a normal textile shop in a busy part of the city.
