Sona Ceramics

Sona Ceramics is located over at Plot 198 in Phase-II of the Naroda G.I.D.C. estate. We are right across the road from the Indian Gum Industries building. It’s a very busy part of the estate with a lot of movement. Our work revolves around the kilns and the clay. It’s always a bit dusty around here, and you can feel the heat from the ovens as soon as you walk in. We spend the early hours of the day getting the molds ready and then we spend the rest of the time loading and unloading the finished pieces. It’s mostly manual work, so everyone stays pretty active. The office is just a small partitioned area with an old wooden desk and a couple of chairs for when someone comes by to talk business. We don't have any fancy displays. Most of what we make is stacked up on pallets ready to be loaded onto the trucks that come in the afternoon. Sometimes the traffic in Naroda makes the deliveries late, which is always a headache. We have a couple of workers who have been with us since we started at this plot. We just keep our heads down and focus on the production. There is always something to do, whether it’s cleaning the molds or checking the temperature of the fire. It’s a basic factory setup where we just do our job day in and day out without much fuss.
