Alok Handloom House

We're up in shop number 202 at the Rajdeep Complex. It's right across from Gopal Tower in Maninagar. It’s a standard shopping complex setup, so you have to walk up the stairs to find us. We mostly have handloom fabrics and finished clothes. The shop is a bit small, and we have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling to hold all the cotton and silk. It gets a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. We like the work though, touching the different textures and seeing the colors that come in from the weavers. Maninagar is a busy spot, so there’s always people walking around downstairs. We’ve been in this complex for a good few years now. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of noise, and the lighting could be brighter, but it serves its purpose. We spend a lot of time folding and unfolding cloth for people who want to see the patterns. It’s a lot of work to keep everything neat, and honestly, we don't always succeed. By the end of the day, there's usually a pile of fabric on the counter that needs to be put back. We aren't trying to be a big department store. We just like the local handloom stuff and want to keep selling it from our little corner. It’s a humble place, and we hope people feel comfortable coming in to just look around and feel the cloth.
