Lucky Timber Mart/Vasudev Hiranand/Lucky Traders

Lucky Timber Mart has been around for a long time, though some folks know us as Vasudev Hiranand or Lucky Traders. We are located in Lati Bazar on Geeta Mandir Road, right near the Geeta Mandir itself. The whole area is filled with the smell of cut wood and sawdust. Our yard is usually full of timber stacks, from thick logs to thin planks used for furniture. It’s a messy business, honestly. There is always dust in the air, and your clothes end up covered in it by the end of the shift. We have a small office that’s basically just a wooden shack with an old desk and a few chairs. We keep our records in big paper ledgers because that’s how we’ve always done it. When the trucks arrive from the sawmills, everything gets very busy and chaotic for a few hours. We have to check the quality of each load, looking for knots or cracks in the wood. It’s heavy work, moving those beams around. Sometimes the weather makes things difficult, especially when the wood gets damp and we have to cover everything with tarps. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just show up or call the old landline when they need a quote. It’s a traditional way of doing business, but it works for us and the local builders who have been coming here for decades.
