Khodiyar Handloom House

We’ve been running Khodiyar Handloom House for a while now over at Gopinath Society. It’s right across from the Nandi Shopping Centre. If you know India Colony Road in Bapunagar, you know it gets pretty busy around here. We usually open up early to get things sorted before the morning rush hits the streets. Our shop isn't huge, but we keep a lot of stuff packed in there. There are stacks of bedsheets and hand-woven fabrics everywhere you look. Sometimes the piles get a bit messy when people start looking through them to see the patterns, but that's just how it goes. We don’t really do fancy displays or anything like that. It’s mostly just us showing whatever we have on the shelves. People from the neighborhood stop by for small things like towels or covers. It feels like a normal part of the street. My brother and I take turns sitting at the counter throughout the day. On some days it’s quiet and we just sit there drinking tea and watching the traffic go by on India Colony Road. Other days, we're moving boxes and trying to find space for new stock that just arrived. We try to keep things simple. There isn’t a big staff or anything, just a few of us making sure people find what they need for their homes. We’ve seen the area change a lot over the years, but the shop stays pretty much the same. It’s a bit dusty sometimes because of the main road, but we do our best.
