Gujarat Mirror Foundation

We are based at the Gujarat Mirror House, right there at Moti Tanki Chowk. If you know the area, you know it is a very active spot with lots of shops and people moving about all day. This foundation started because we wanted to have a place that looks at what is happening in our community. We aren't doing this for profit or to look big. It is mostly about the local stories and helping out where things seem stuck. The building we are in has been around for a bit, and we have a few rooms where we sit and talk about local issues. It is often a bit noisy because of the traffic at the chowk, but it keeps us connected to what is actually going on outside our windows. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything fancy like that. Most of our work is just talking to neighbors and seeing what needs attention in the city. Some days we are just sorting through papers or meeting with people who have something to say about the neighborhood. We drink a lot of tea and try to stay organized. It’s a small operation, really. We just feel that being at Moti Tanki Chowk puts us right where we need to be to see things clearly. We don't use big words to describe what we do. It’s just about being a mirror for the place we live in and helping when we can.
