Eka Akshar Charity Foundation

We are based out of Plot No. 53 in Sardarnagar village, which is part of Mehmedabad. It is a quiet spot, mostly just local families and small houses around us. A few of us started this charity foundation because we live here and see what's going on every day. It isn't a huge operation with a bunch of desks and computers. Mostly, it’s just us sitting together trying to figure out how to help a neighbor or a local kid get what they need for school. Some days are busier than others. When the sun gets really hot in the afternoon, things slow down a bit, but we are usually around if someone stops by. We don't really have a big formal plan, we just take things as they come. Being in Mehmedabad means everyone knows each other, so news travels fast if someone is in trouble. We try to be the people they can come to. It’s a simple life here at Eka Akshar. We aren't trying to change the whole world, just our little corner of it. The office is plain, just some chairs and a table, but it works for what we do. We like it this way. It feels more honest. If you are ever passing through the village, you might see us out front. We’re just local people doing what we think is right for our community. Sometimes we just sit on the porch and talk to whoever walks by.
