Basantlal Jalan Foundation

Our place is on the fourth floor of the Earth Arise building, which is quite close to the YMCA Club on SG Highway. It is a pretty busy part of Ahmedabad, so there is always something happening outside. We are the Basantlal Jalan Foundation. We have got a small suite, number 404. It is not the biggest office, but it fits our desks and a small table for meetings. We mostly spend our time looking at spreadsheets or talking to people who come in for help. We are not into that whole polished corporate vibe you see in some of the other buildings around here. Our chairs are a bit old and the printer jams sometimes, but it works well enough for what we need. We started this because we wanted to give back in some way that made sense to us. It is not a fancy operation. We do not have matching uniforms or a big slogan. Most of us just wear what is comfortable and get to work. The commute on SG Highway can be a nightmare during rush hour, so we tend to arrive early and leave late to avoid the worst of it. We drink a lot of water because the AC struggles a bit in the summer heat. It is a straightforward setup. We do not try to impress anyone; we just try to be useful and keep the foundation running day by day. That is how we operate.
