We’ve got our shop, Anil Handicrafts, right across from the Hotel Mughal Sheraton on Fatehabad Road. It’s a prime spot for tourists, though we mostly deal with wholesalers these days. The road is always busy with rickshaws and cars, especially during the peak season. We have a lot of different things inside, from small carvings to larger pieces. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because we keep getting new stock in. My father started this place and I just took over. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. Most people just see us as they are heading to their hotel and stop in. We spend our days dusting the shelves and talking to visitors. Some days are slow, and we just sit outside on the stools watching the world go by. Other days, we are busy packing crates to send overseas. We try to keep things organized, but with so many small items, it’s a bit of a challenge. We don't use any high-tech systems, just an old ledger and a calculator. It’s how we’ve always done it. We’re just regular people selling things that local artisans make. We know the history of most pieces we sell. If you’re ever walking down Fatehabad Road, you’ll see our sign. We’re usually there from morning until late evening, just keeping the shop going.
