Pashan Kala

You can find us at 19/17 in Kuncha Sadhu Ram, right in the middle of Phulatti Bazar. It’s a crowded area but it’s got a lot of character. We work with stone and traditional items here at Pashan Kala. The shop is filled with various pieces we’ve been working on. There is usually a bit of dust in the air from the carving, but that’s just how it is. We’ve been in this spot for quite a while now. The streets around here are narrow, so we have to be careful when moving larger pieces. It’s a very local feel. We talk to the neighbors every morning when we open up. Sometimes customers wander in just to see what we are making that day. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Everything is just laid out where we have space. We use old tools and some newer ones too. It’s a mix of different styles. The work takes a lot of patience. You can’t rush stone. We just sit and chip away at things until they look right. It’s hard work on the hands, but we like it. The bazar is always noisy with people and carts, which gives the place some energy. We just keep doing what we know how to do, one piece at a time, right here in the heart of the market. It is a slow process but we enjoy the results and the everyday life of the bazar.
