Our shop is located at 18/1 Gwalior Road, with the post box being number 1059. We are right on the main stretch where all the traffic heads out of the city. The place is usually covered in a thin layer of white dust because of all the marble work we do. If you walk into the back, you’ll see the guys sitting on the floor with their small tools, working on the inlay patterns. It’s slow and tedious work. The front part of the emporium has some old wooden shelves where we keep the finished pieces. It’s not a shiny, modern store. The tiles are a bit worn out from years of people walking in and out. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases because the dust from the road and the workshop never seems to stop. We don't have a sales team with rehearsed speeches. We just show people what we have and tell them how long it took to make. The ceiling fans hum all day long to keep the air moving. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the stone deliveries to arrive. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just have to sit by the door where the light is better to keep working. It’s a bit of a dusty life, but it’s what we’ve always done here on Gwalior Road. We just keep the doors open and see who comes by.
