Our company, Deganga Sabujsathi Agri-Horti Farmers Producer Company Limited, operates out of Niazispur village. You can find us at Santi Pada Mal’s place near the Sethpur post office in North 24 Parganas. We are basically a group of farmers who decided to come together to manage our agri and horti work better. It’s a quiet area here, mostly surrounded by greenery and small plots of land. We spend a lot of time discussing what to plant next or how to deal with the pests that come every season. Dealing with paperwork isn't our favorite thing, but it has to be done to keep the company running legally. The roads around here can get a bit muddy when it rains, making it hard to move produce, but we find ways. We aren't trying to be some big corporate entity. We are just local people trying to make a living from the land. Sometimes the crops are good, sometimes they aren't, and we just deal with it as it comes. It's a lot of physical labor and early mornings. We have our small office space where we meet up and drink tea while looking over the accounts. It’s a practical setup for people like us. We know everyone in the village and they know us. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing. It’s a simple life but it keeps us busy every day.
