We started Maniktola Agro Farmers Producer Company Limited because things were getting tough for us farmers here in Kashipur. Our office is actually at Md. Golam Rabbani Molla’s place, he’s the son of late Julmatmolla. If you know Vill Maniktala, you know it’s mostly just fields and narrow roads. Po Shankpukur is where we get our mail, but most of our work happens out in the dirt. We aren't some big city corporation with fancy suits. Most days you’ll find us talking about the price of seeds or how the rain hasn't been enough this year. We decided to group up to see if we could get a better deal on fertilizers and stuff like that. It’s not always easy, and sometimes the paperwork is a real headache for us. Golam handles a lot of that because he understands the forms better. We’ve got a lot of families involved now. Every person brings their own problems, but we try to listen. We aren’t trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the people in Maniktala don't lose money every single season. Sometimes the meetings go long and we argue about what to plant next, but that’s just how it is here. You can find us near the old landmark in the village if you ever need to talk. We’re just regular people trying to keep the farms going without too much trouble from the middle men.
