Kalain Agrofed Farmers Producer Company Limited operates out of Brahmangramkalain. We use Jakir Hussain Khan’s place as our main point of contact. This whole thing started because we wanted to see if we could get better results by working as a single unit instead of everyone doing their own thing separately. We are all from around here, and we know the land in Kalain pretty well. It isn't easy work, and we don't pretend it is. Most of our days are spent out in the dirt, dealing with whatever the weather throws at us. We aren't a big corporation with people in suits. We are just farmers who wear boots and get our hands dirty. The company is a way for us to buy seeds or tools together so it doesn't cost so much for one person. We keep the paperwork to a minimum because none of us really likes sitting in an office. We’d much rather be out checking on the fields or fixing a piece of equipment. People in the village know us and they know where we stand. We don't make big promises. We just try to grow the best we can and hope for a decent harvest. It’s a quiet life for the most part, centered around the seasons and the soil. We just take things one day at a time and try to help each other out when things get tough.
