Sponge &Iron Company has been sitting out here in Chitya for a long time. Nalgonda is a dry place, and working with iron makes it feel even hotter most days. We don't have a fancy lobby or any of those modern office chairs. It is mostly just the yard and the equipment we use to process everything. Andhra Pradesh is our home base, and we have stuck with this location because it works for the trucks coming in. Dealing with sponge iron is dirty, dusty work, but it is what we know how to do. We don't go around telling people we are the biggest or anything like that. We just focus on the iron and getting it ready. Most of the guys working here live nearby in the village. We have seen the seasons change many times from this spot. Sometimes the equipment breaks down and we spend the whole day fixing it with grease on our hands. It is a practical business. We don't have a website with a bunch of pictures. If people need us, they usually just drive down to the site or call. The 506002 area code is where we belong. It is not a glamorous life, but it keeps us busy. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily load. It’s just us, the iron, and the Nalgonda sun. We try to be fair and just do the job right without any nonsense.
