Vijnana Vihara Senior Secondary Residential School

Vijnana Vihara is a residential school for senior secondary students out in Pendurty, Visakhapatnam. Being on the outskirts like this, it is a bit quieter than the main part of Vizag. The school is spread out over a decent amount of land, and you can see the hills in the distance on a clear day. Because it is a residential school, there is a sense of everyone being in it together. The students stay in the hostels, and the teachers are usually around even after the formal classes are over. The buildings are simple concrete structures that have been weathered by the coastal air over the years. You won't find any luxury here; it is all about the basics—beds, desks, and a place to eat. In the mornings, you might see groups of students walking across the campus to the dining hall. There are plenty of trees around, which helps with the heat, though the humidity from the ocean still gets to us. The routine is pretty strict, with set times for everything from waking up to lights out. We have a lot of books, a lot of quiet study hours, and a lot of everyday work happening behind the gates. It is a plain, hardworking environment that feels very settled into the Pendurty landscape.
