Venky Food

Our little spot is at 7-3-8/3 in Dwarka Nagar. It’s more of a home-style kitchen than anything else. We started this because there weren't many places nearby to get a decent, simple meal without paying too much. Every morning we start early, getting the rice going and chopping up the vegetables we bought. The kitchen isn't very big, so we have to be organized or we just trip over each other. It’s usually just me and one other person helping out. We do mostly take-away or people standing around to eat quickly before they head back to work. Dwarka Nagar is a busy little pocket, and we get to know everyone's names after a while. Sometimes the stove acts up and we have to cook a bit slower, but most people don't mind waiting a few minutes. We don’t have a fancy menu printed out, we just tell people what we made for the day. It’s usually whatever was fresh at the market. By the time we close up and wash the big pots at Venky Food, we’re pretty tired. But it’s a good kind of tired. We just want to make sure the food tastes like something you’d get in your own house. Nothing more and nothing less than that. It is just basic, good food for the people who live and work around here.
