Mr & Mrs Idly

Our place, Mr & Mrs Idly, is tucked into Shop No 6 on the ground floor of the Fish Aquarium building. If you know Visakhapatnam, you know the RK Beach area gets a lot of people, especially in the evenings when the sun starts to go down. We are right there in Maharanipeta, near the water. The air always smells a little bit like the sea, which is nice, but it also makes everything a bit sticky. We have to wipe the tables down constantly. Being on the ground floor makes it easy for folks to just wander in after looking at the fish or walking on the sand. The shop isn't very large, so it can feel a bit cramped when a big family shows up at once. We just do our thing in the kitchen and bring the food out as fast as the small stove allows. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, which is just part of living in 530003, so we keep some candles and a torch handy. It is mostly local people and a few tourists who come by. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights, just the name on the front. It’s a bit of a slow pace during the weekday mornings, then it picks up quite a lot on Saturday nights. We just try to keep things moving along without too much fuss or trouble.
