Pizza Corner

We are tucked away behind the First Baptist Church in Old Karasa. It is a bit of a tricky spot to find if you aren't from around here, but the locals in N.A.D. know the way to H No 58-12-6. The kitchen is the heart of the place and it stays hot all year round because of the ovens. We spend our shift kneading dough and chopping up vegetables on the big wooden tables. It’s not a big fancy restaurant with waiters in ties. It’s more of a place where you can smell the bread baking from the street. Priya Kumar’s family has been around this area for a long time, and we just keep the shop running day in and day out. We have a few small tables out front, but a lot of people just come by on their bikes to pick things up and take them home. The walls are a plain color and we have a calendar hanging up that's usually a month behind. When it rains, the sound on the roof is so loud we can barely hear the phone ring. We try to keep things simple. There’s flour on the floor most nights and we have to scrub the counters down good before we head home. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from the afternoon until late at night when the church bells have long stopped and the street gets quiet.
