Ameya World School

Ameya World School is out in Bheemunipatnam, which is a bit of a drive from the main part of Visakhapatnam. Being near the coast means we get that sea air, which is nice most of the time unless it’s really humid. We’ve been set up here for a while, and the locals know us. The school grounds are fairly spread out. We spend a lot of our time just managing the day-to-day stuff, like making sure the buses are running on time and the water coolers are full. It isn’t always perfect. Sometimes the power goes out or a window gets stuck, and we have to call someone to come and fix it. We have a mix of teachers, some who’ve been here since the start and some new faces. We see the kids growing up right in front of us, which is a strange thing to think about when you’ve been here long enough. The playground gets a lot of use, and you can usually hear the shouting from the other side of the compound during break time. We don't really do the big corporate talk. We’re just a group of people trying to run a school the best way we know how in this part of Vizag. It's quiet out here compared to the city, which suits us just fine. We keep things simple and try to make sure every student has a desk and some books to read.
