Sree Surya Brick Works

We are located at Sree Surya Brick Works, right on the main road near Nandigama. If you are looking for us, we are at Sy.No.125 in Gudimetla. It is a hot part of Krishna District, and the sun really beats down on the open ground where we lay the bricks out to dry. The traffic on the main road never seems to stop, which makes it easy for the lorries to pull in and out. We spend most of our time checking the quality of the clay. It has to be just right, or the bricks will crack in the kiln. My clothes are always stained with that reddish-brown earth. It’s hard work, but someone has to do it. The yard is quite big, and we have several rows of bricks stacked up waiting to be fired. We don't use any high-tech machines, mostly just manual labor and old-fashioned methods that have worked for years. Sometimes the wind blows the dust right into the small office space we have. We just wipe it off and keep going. When the season is busy, there is a lot of shouting and noise from the tractors. In the evenings, it gets a bit quieter after the workers finish their shift. We live and work right here, so there isn't much of a break. It's just a regular local business trying to get the job done every day for the people around the Krishna area.
