Koni Bricks

Our yard is at Plot No. 3-8-65 in Vidya Nagar, Kothagudem. We are really close to the bus stop, which is actually pretty convenient for some of our workers. It’s a bit noisy with the buses coming and going, but you get used to it after a few days. We make bricks here and the yard is usually a mess of raw materials and finished stacks. We don’t have any polished floors or nice furniture. Most of our furniture is just old chairs we’ve had for years. It’s a very hands-on environment. We are constantly checking the moisture in the clay or making sure the molds are clean. It’s a bit of a struggle when the weather changes, but we manage. We don't have any big mission statements. We just want to make sure the bricks we produce are solid and that we can pay our bills at the end of the month. Most of our customers are just people from around Kothagudem who are building a wall or a small house. They stop by because they saw us near the bus stop. It’s a simple, local operation. We don’t try to be anything we’re not. We’re just Koni Bricks, working in the dust and the sun every day to get things done. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. The buses never seem to be on time anyway. We stay busy regardless.
