If you are in Vijayawada, you might have seen Hyamu Hair Styles over in Seetharampuram. We are located in the Chuttugunta area, right near the Chuttugunta signals. It’s a very busy intersection, so there is always a lot of noise from the cars and the bikes waiting at the light. Our shop is a simple spot where we focus on hair. We don’t have any fancy signs or big posters in the window. Just our name and the work we do inside. The shop isn’t huge, but we have enough space for a few customers at a time. We open up early because the morning traffic starts soon and people like to get things done before they go to their offices. Working near the signals means we see thousands of people every day, even if they don’t all come inside. Inside, it feels a bit like a break from the heat and the dust outside. We have our scissors, our combs, and our spray bottles ready to go. We don’t talk like those people in the big city salons. We just speak regular English and Telugu and get on with it. It’s a practical business. We’ve been here long enough to know many of the faces that pass by. It’s just about providing a place where a person can get their hair cut without any fuss. We just keep working until the signals go dark at night. Sometimes the traffic is so loud we have to speak up a bit.
