We’ve been here at Vijaya Talkies Centre on Eluru Road for quite a while now. Most people in Governerpet know the spot because it’s right there near the busy intersection. The shop isn’t huge but we have enough chairs for everyone who drops by during the day. Sometimes it gets really loud with the traffic outside, but inside we just focus on the hair. We see a lot of regulars from around Vijayawada who’ve been coming to us for years. It's just a normal hair design place where we try to keep things simple and clean. The mirrors have seen a lot of faces over the years and the floor usually has a bit of hair on it until we sweep up between customers. We don't have fancy decorations or anything, just the usual stuff you’d expect in a local barber shop. It’s mostly about getting the job done so people can get on with their day. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings us chai when we’re too busy to leave. We open up early and stay until the lights on Eluru Road get bright at night. It’s a good spot to sit for a bit and see the city move while someone works on your hair. We don't do much talking unless the customer starts it. Mostly, it’s just the sound of scissors and the fan humming in the corner.
