Nishanagro Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are located in a small place called Nishan, which is part of Muftiganj over in Jaunpur. The company is called Nishanagro Navkrishak Farmers Producer Company Limited. It is run out of Yogendra Rai’s place. If you know the Kerakat area, we are not too far from the main road. Most of the people working here are farmers themselves. We know what it is like to wait for the monsoon or worry about pests eating the crop before it can be harvested. This company was put together so we could buy things in bulk and maybe get a better price when we sell. It is a lot of paperwork, which none of us really likes, but it has to be done for the records. The office is usually dusty because of all the trucks and tractors passing by. We have a lot of meetings, but they usually happen sitting under a tree or on the porch. We talk about what seeds to buy or how to fix a broken pump. It is not a formal business environment like you see in the big cities. We speak the local language and we know everyone’s name in the village. Jaunpur is a big place, but our world is mostly right here in Muftiganj. We just try to help each other out and keep the farming going. It is a lot of long hours, especially during the sowing season, but that is the life we chose. We just want to make things a bit easier here.
