Down in Vapi, specifically in the 40 Shed Area of the GIDC, you’ll find our metal shop. The address is 785-3. It’s a rough and tumble part of town where everyone is making something or breaking something down. We deal with metal mostly. The sound of the cutters and the grinders is the background music of our lives. It’s usually pretty hot under the tin roof, but we’ve got some big industrial fans that help a little bit. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we do, they just walk right into the shed. There’s iron dust on everything, including the ledgers on the desk. We keep a close eye on the scrap prices because that changes how we work from week to week. Most of us have been working here for years, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just show up, do the shifts, and go home. The trucks come in through the narrow lanes, and sometimes it’s a real headache to get them turned around. We’ve had to help push a few out of the mud during the rainy season. It’s just the way things are in this part of Vapi. We aren't trying to impress anyone with the building. We just want to make sure the metal is cut right and the orders are ready to go out on time.
