Shreeji Plastic Works

Down in Pratap Nagar, on New C G Road, you’ll find Shreeji Plastic Works. It is a noisy place because of the machines running all the time. We make different kinds of plastic items, mostly things people use in their homes or for industrial packing. The smell of melting plastic is something you get used to after the first week of working here. We have these big metal molds that we swap out depending on what we are making that day. It is heavy work and the shop gets very hot. The floor is usually covered in little plastic pellets. We try to keep it clean, but they get everywhere, even in my shoes. I started this place with a friend years ago. Now we have a few guys helping us out with the heavy lifting. The New C G Road area is growing, so there’s more traffic than there used to be. We load the finished boxes onto the trucks out back twice a day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around for the generator. That’s the worst part of the job. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we make, you just come into the workshop and look around. It’s dusty and loud, but it’s honest work. We don't do a lot of talking while the machines are on. Most of the time we are just watching the process. It is a steady business. We’ve been here in Pratap Nagar for a good while.
