Essen Electromech is based at Plot No. 283-6, right next to some other busy workshops in the GIDC Industrial Estate. We deal with both electrical and mechanical components, which means there’s always a variety of stuff lying around on the workbenches. One day it might be wiring up a panel, and the next day we might be fixing a motor housing. It’s a bit of a mix, which keeps things interesting for the staff. The building itself is a standard GIDC shed. We’ve modified it over the years to fit our needs, adding better wiring and more storage racks. It’s a practical space, not a pretty one. There’s grease on the floor in some spots and coils of wire in others. We usually have the radio playing in the background to help the day go by faster. Our customers are mostly other industrial units that need specific parts or repairs. We don't really do retail or walk-in business for the general public. It's more about knowing the other guys in the estate and helping them out when their equipment breaks down. We’ve got a small crew, and everyone knows their role. We don't have a lot of meetings; we just talk over chai in the morning and then get to work. It’s a straightforward way to run things, and it works for us.
