Sanskruti Saree & Dress Material

You can find us at number 14 in the Maa Shopping Center in Vadodara. Being in a shopping center means we see a lot of foot traffic, especially on the weekends when families come out. Sanskruti Saree & Dress Material is a place where we have a lot of different fabrics crammed into a relatively small space. There are sarees stacked up to the ceiling and bundles of dress material sitting on the floor. Vadodara can be very hot, so being inside the center helps a little, though our shop can get stuffy when there are more than three people inside at once. We spend a lot of time unfolding things for people to look at and then trying to fold them back exactly how they were before. It never quite goes back the same way, though, which is a bit frustrating. The walls have some old posters and a calendar that’s usually a month behind. We know the other shop owners around here, so there’s always someone popping in to borrow a stapler or share some news. It’s a very local feel in this part of Vadodara. We don't try to be something we aren't. We just have the stuff people need for their clothes and we stay open until the center lights start to dim. Sometimes the children from the nearby shops run through the corridors, making a lot of noise. It’s just a regular day in a regular shop. We like the neighborhood and the people.
