Rachana Tiles

Our shop is located at unit 17 in the Milan Industrial Estate. If you know where the L & T Energy Centre is on Dharamsinh Desai Marg, we are right nearby. It's a busy industrial area, so there is always a lot of noise from trucks and other workshops nearby. We have been here at Rachana Tiles for some time now. The whole space is filled with stacks of cardboard boxes. Tiles are quite heavy, and moving them around is a lot of physical labor for us. We spend most of our mornings checking what arrived on the transport and what needs to go out to our customers. It gets very crowded inside when we have a big shipment arriving. Being near Chhani Jakat Naka means there is plenty of traffic, which can make it a bit of a headache to get deliveries in sometimes during the day. The walls of our small office have a few samples pinned up, but mostly it is just rows of crates piled high. We don't really do anything fancy or have a lot of decorations. A lot of people come in with measurements for their rooms scribbled on scraps of paper or on their phones. We try to help them find a match or something that looks right for their bathroom or kitchen. The floor of the warehouse is usually covered in a bit of grit from the tile edges. It is just me and a couple of others here most days. We drink tea when there is a quiet moment and wait for the next customer to walk through the gate. It is a straightforward way to make a living.
