Ruby Tiles

Ruby Tiles is located at Plot No. 527. It’s just a basic plot where we keep all the stock stacked up. Dealing with tiles is heavy work, and our backs usually feel it by the end of the week. We have stacks of different patterns and sizes scattered around the place. Some days it’s quiet and we just organize the inventory, and other days it’s a mess with trucks coming in and out. The dust from the ceramics gets everywhere, on our clothes and in our hair, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just part of the job. We don't have a big showroom with fancy lights or anything like that. People come to us because they know where we are located on Plot 527 and they need something for their floors or walls. We spend a lot of time moving crates around and checking for cracks. If a box breaks, it’s a loss, so we have to be careful with the forklift. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to work outside, but we get through it. It's a straightforward business. We sell tiles, we load them up, and we go home. Not many people realize how much weight we move in a single afternoon. It keeps us fit, I guess. We've been here for a while and the neighborhood has grown up around us. It’s a bit cluttered, but we know where everything is, more or less. We often drink some tea while waiting for the next truck to arrive.
